Here’s how it works!

Start by scheduling a free assessment online, by using the book an appointment button. This will allow you to receive online paperwork in order to evaluate if you likely have any myofunctional concerns. Misty will then take the time to review your answers, and prepare to discuss them with you. She will call you at your scheduled appointment time. If together, you conclude that you can benefit from myofunctional therapy, a comprehensive exam can be scheduled.

Your first, in person, visit will be ‘discovery visit’ and is a comprehensive evaluation. This is a clinical examination of the muscles of your mouth, throat, and airway, as well as an in-depth conversation about your sleeping, eating, daily habits and history. You can expect a 2-2.5 hour exam which will include photographs, videos of swallowing, and an explanation of your conditions. Approximately a week later you will receive a treatment plan. You should plan for an expense of $275 for your Comprehensive Exam which will be collected at time of service.

Generally you should expect therapy sessions to last 30-60 minute every 2 weeks for 6-9 months. Follow up therapy sessions can be conducted via video telehealth or in person. You will be expected to do physical therapy types of exercises for a several minutes every day during treatment to achieve excellent results.

How long does it take?

Misty is skilled at helping children and adults gain control over muscle patterning habits, including those to help aide in the cessation of mouth breathing. She will evaluate your facial and tongue muscles and develop a treatment plan specific to your needs.  Typically you can plan on 12-15 therapy sessions with a few minutes of practice exercises each day.  During your comprehensive evaluation appointment the severity of your symptoms will be determined in order to establish a recommended treatment.
